BIOGRAFÍAS              Henry Christopher MACCOOK                Nació en Nueva Lisboa (Ohio) el 3 de julio de 1837, murió el 31 de octubre de 1911 en Devon (Pensilvania). Después de sus estudios en el Colegio Jefferson, Cononsburg (Pen.), fue aprendiz de impresor y a continuación, estudió derecho, finalmente, entró en el Western Theological Seminary, donde permaneció hasta 1861. Voluntario durante la guerra civil fue teniente y capellán de un regimiento de Illinois. Después de la guerra, ejerció su ministerio en varias parroquias y, por último, en 1870 fue nombrado pastor en el Tabernáculo de la Iglesia Presbiteriana de Filadelfia. En 1902 se retiró a Brookcamp (Devon) dedicándose a trabajos literarios.      Hombre y ciudadano de gran bondad, ferviente patriota, predicador de gran poder, también fue un eminente naturalista, se centró en particular en el estudio del comportamiento de Hormigas y Arañas.                Su importante obra American Spiders and their Spinning Work, es uno de los primeros trabajos de este tipo, abundantemente ilustrado, da una descripción muy detallada de los conocimientos para la época sobre el comportamiento de las arañas de América.             Su obra:           Mackook (H.C.)
