BIOGRAFÍAS              George MARX                Nació el 22 de junio 1838 en Lauback (Gran Ducado de Hesse), donde su padre era capellán de la Corte. Realizó sus estudios en la escuela de Darmstadt al mismo tiempo que estudiaba hebreo, ya que estaba destinado a entrar en las órdenes. Pero fue su pasión por la botánica, la que lo llevó a cambiar su carrera por la de farmacia, después de graduarse en farmacia, se trasladó en 1860 a América; como farmacéutico del ejército en Nueva York y Filadelfia, en 1865 comenzó a recoger arácnidos y en 1878 era ponente de historia natural en el Laboratorio de Entomología del Departamento de Agricultura.      En correspondencia con Keyserling, Thorel, Simon, Maccook, Emerton y Peckham, contribuyó con una veintena de artículos al conocimiento de las arañas de los Estados Unidos donde publicó un catálogo en 1898; por otra parte, aseguró el final de la publicación del libro Die Spinnen Amerikas que Keyserling no pudo completar antes de su muerte.                Marx murió el 3 de enero de 1895, en Washington, fue uno de los fundadores de la Sociedad de Entomología de Washington.             Su obra:           Marx (G.)
