BIOGRAFÍAS              Georg Williams PECKHAM y Elisabeth PECKHAM                Nació el 23 de marzo de 1845 en Albany (N.Y.), murió el 10 de enero de 1914 en Milwaukee. Era joven cuando estalló la guerra civil en los Estados Unidos, se alistó en 1863 y rápidamente consiguió el rango de teniente (a los 19 años) gracias a su gran valor.      Después de la guerra reanudó sus estudios en el Antioch College de Ohio y Law School de Albany. En 1870, se inscribe en la escuela de medicina en Ann Arbor (Michigan) y fue doctor en medicina en 1872.                Aunque el pudo ejercer la profesión médica o jurídica, ni la una ni la otra fueron de su elección, si no que se incorporó a la enseñanza de la biología en el East Division High School en Milwaukee. En 1888, fue director de su escuela y en 1891 fue inspector de instrucción pública, cargo que ocupó hasta 1897, cuando aceptó la dirección de la Biblioteca Pública de Milwaukee para permanecer allí hasta 1910.                En 1880, se casó con Elizabeth GIFFORD, quién colaboró con él en la investigación arañas, en realidad no podemos separar la labor del Dr Peckham de la de su esposa, además la mayoría de los artículos están firmados por ambos. La labor de Peckham se apoya principalmente en el estudio del comportamiento y la sistemática de los Saltícidos, así como el estudio del comportamiento de las avispas; y su trabajo en la selección sexual y el mimetismo con arañas fueron de considerable importancia en el mundo entero.             Su obra:           Peckham (E.G.)
