BIOGRAFÍAS              William Frederik PURCELL                Nació en Londres en septiembre de 1866, murió en Bergoliet (Sudáfrica) en octubre de 1919. Estudió en un Colegio de Ciudad del Cabo, Sudáfrica desde 1883 hasta 1887, donde fue un estudiante brillante, cuando se licenció, se fue a continuar sus estudios en varias universidades alemanas y trabaja en la estructura interna de los Arácnidos, obtuvo el doctorado en 1894. Regresó a África y desde 1896 a 1905, fue primer asistente en el Museo Sudafricano de Ciudad del Cabo, fue durante este período cuando publicó la mayor parte de sus trabajos sobre las arañas de Sudáfrica. Los últimos quince años de su vida los pasó en su casa de Bergoliet, donde se centró en la flora de Sudáfrica, sin olvidarse de las arañas, de las que en de 1909 a 1910 nos dejó un trabajo sobre su aparato respiratorio. Estuvo muy interesado, en la creación y desarrollo del Volksmuseum, en Ciudad del Cabo, donde una placa conmemorativa lo recuerda.             Su obra:           Purcell (W.F.)
