|
Observational data on the
early development and post-birth behavior of a single litter of the
Malagasy endemic scorpion, Opisthacanthus maculatus Lourenço &
Goodman, 2006 (Liochelidae) is reported for the first time. A single
female gave birth to a litter of 11 offspring during a 10 hour period of
parturition. The young molted to the second-instar within a 14 day
period. After an additional 10-12 day period, the young dispersed from
the material female. This is the first report of post-birth behavior for
a Malagasy endemic Opisthacanthus species. |

Se presentan por primera
vez observaciones sobre el desarrollo temprano y el comportamiento
post-natal de una camada del escorpión endémico de Madagascar
Opisthacanthus maculatus Lourenço & Goodman, 2006 (Liochelidae). Una
hembra dio a luz a una camada de 11 crías durante un parto de 10 horas.
Las crías mudaron al segundo estadio en un plazo de 14 días. Después de
un período de 10-12 días adicionales, los jóvenes se dispersaron de la
hembra materna. Este es el primer informe del comportamiento post natal
de una especie de escorpión endémica de Madagascar. |
