of Buthus Leach, 1815 (Scorpiones: Buthidae) from northeastern
Morocco |

|
A new species
belonging to the genus Buthus Leach, 1815 (Scorpiones: Buthidae)
is described from the Chameau cave in the region of Taforalt
(Tafoughalt) in the north-east of Morocco. The new species is
characterized by three well marked longitudinal strips over the tergites
and seems to present some morphological affinities with the "occidental
form" of "Buthus paris" cited from the region of Oujda but never
described. The new species may represent a link between the Buthus
species distributed in the north range of Tunisia and Algeria with these
from north of Morocco. |

|
Se describe una
especie nueva del género Buthus Leach, 1815 (Scorpiones:
Buthidae) de la cueva de Chameau, en la región de Toforalt (Tafoughalt),
noreste de Marruecos. La especie nueva se caracteriza por tres bandas
longitudinales bien definidas en los terguitos, y parece presentar
algunas afinidades morfológicas con la "forma occidental" de "Buthus
paris", citada de la región de Oujda pero nunca descrita. La especie
nueva puede representar un enlace entre las especies de Buthus
distribuidas por el norte de Túnez y Argelia y las del norte de
Marruecos. |
