  Abstract:

Scorpio maurus Linnaeus, 1758 is an omnipresent species in northwestern Algeria. Here we report a natural case of predation on a subadult female of the Scorpio maurus by another adult famale of the same species in the forest of the Ouarsenis massif of Tissemsilt (northwestern Algeria). Cannibalism among Scorpio species, particularly Scorpio maurus, has not been previously reported and it can be considered as a self-regulation strategy to maintain the stability of this population.
